As usual, the red carpet was a runway of daring statements and stylish flair at the 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), which is undoubtedly a colourful show of fashion, culture, and star power.
While several celebrities flaunted their androgynous looks, high fashion clothes, and stilettos, musician Okyeame Kwame is going one step farther. Richly laced with Ghanaian Kente, he wore full Egyptian Pharaoh regalia to honour the occasion.
In response to a question about the source of his regal attire, Okyeame Kwame said, "Why Cairo? Because there's a new standard, you know. Africa is becoming more powerful. Neo-colonialism is being resisted by Africa. And we are becoming more ourselves. I made the decision to remind everyone that we are descended from royalty. Avoid falling in love with it.
It took three days to create the ensemble, which was a flawless blend of political satire and tradition.
During the red carpet interview, Okyeame Kwame commended his designer for the creativity and skill, although he did not instantly reveal his name. Additionally, we must highlight the designer. Just give him a round of applause for his efforts, you know. "Very lovely," he continued.
The Faithful crooner stated: "I'm really excited about performances," in reference to his expectations for the big stage. Additionally, I would want to know who will get Artiste of the Year. Then, just for me, I would want to take home one or two prizes," he said.
