WAEC releases 2025 Private Candidates’ results, warns against fraudulent result upgrades

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for 12,452 private candidates who participated in the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) – First Series.

In a statement issued on Thursday, March 28, 2025, WAEC disclosed that the candidates included 5,269 males and 7,998 females, while 738 registered candidates were absent. Those who took the exam can now check their results online through the WAEC portal using their examination details.

Examination Malpractice Cases

WAEC also revealed instances of malpractice identified during both the examination and the marking process. Consequently, the subject results of 34 candidates and the overall results of 43 candidates have been withheld, pending further investigations.

Warning Against Fake Result Upgrades

The Council warned candidates and the public against fraudsters who claim to upgrade results in exchange for money, often requesting payments via mobile money. WAEC reassured that its results database is secure and all results are authentic.

“The Council urges the public to be cautious of scammers who contact candidates, promising to improve their results for a fee through mobile money transfers,” WAEC stated.

Additionally, WAEC advised institutions and employers to verify candidates’ results directly through its official verification service available at www.waecgh.org.
