FULL VIDEO : UEW Ajumako Campus Culture Week Celebration 2024: Sisali Cultural Performance: Eat Fresh Goat Meat

A lively exhibition of Ghanaian cultural history, the Culture Week Celebration at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Ajumako Campus brings together various ethnic groups to celebrate their distinctive customs. The Gur-Gonja department's Sesale community put on one of the most compelling performances this year when they performed a traditional and intriguing act as part of their cultural display.

The Sesale actors performed a ceremony in which they chewed fresh goat flesh in a remarkable demonstration of traditional authenticity. This custom, which has its roots in their cultural past, is an important part of their customs and festivals. It represents a number of cultural values, such as fortitude, solidarity, and life celebration.

As the Sesale members prepared and carried out this rite while dressed in traditional garb, the audience observed with fascination. Chewing the fresh flesh was a ceremonial rite that came after the goat was handled and prepared with respect. For the Sesale people, this rite is more than just a show; it is a deep cultural expression with significant cultural significance.

The significance of conserving and disseminating indigenous customs is underscored by the inclusion of such a distinctive and genuine performance in the Culture Week Celebration. It gave the performers and their community a sense of pride while also educating people who were not aware with the Sesale customs.

The UEW Ajumako Campus's Culture Week Celebration is a venue for presenting Ghana's cultural landscape's great variety. The Gur-Gonja department's Sesale performance serves as a reminder of the enduring customs that underpin our society and the significance of honouring and conserving these cultural legacies for next generations.
