Free passport delivery service commences

In partnership with Ghana Post and the neighbourhood courier service Troskit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started offering passport delivery services to applicants at their homes and workplaces.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, personally delivered the travel document to a few applicants in Accra last Friday, marking the formal start of the project, which is one of the six new policy initiatives the ministry has defined and executed this year.

As part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' new policy changes, the free passport delivery project seeks to guarantee that applicants get their passports within 15 days after submitting their applications. This would reduce the need for intermediaries by preventing lines at the different passport offices.

Dedication
"I joined the delivery team to attest to the services being rendered by the courier services in delivering the passports to applicants," the Foreign Affairs Minister stated.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, the new services showed the ministry's dedication to making sure applicants didn't have to work hard to get the travel document.

It is no longer necessary for Ghanaian passport applicants to return to the passport application facility in order to get their passports.

In order to ensure that passports are delivered safely and promptly to applicants' homes or workplaces, we have implemented unique services," he said.

"I am really satisfied with the delivery today," the minister said, expressing happiness with the delivery service.

Ghanaians are getting their passports without any hassle, annoyance, or intermediaries.

When he started office, there were around 70,000 uncollected passports at the ministry as a result of irritation and bureaucracy. Mr. Ablakwa underlined that the free passport delivery will eliminate uncollected passports.

He praised the Ghana Post for delivering the passports to applicants in a professional manner.

"The Ghana Post deserves praise for their excellent work. Their professionalism is outstanding.

The motorcyclists maintain a positive attitude towards the beneficiaries and are always grinning.

OTPs, or one-time passwords, are operational.

It comes in excellent packaging and is both fireproof and waterproof. I'm thrilled that the new reform has reached its conclusion," Mr. Ablakwa said.

The three recipients also expressed pleasure with the change in the passport purchase procedure, saying that it was an honour for the Minister of Foreign Affairs to hand the travel document to them.

On behalf of her daughter, Nhyira Nana Akua Ntim Bempah, Efe Ankrah, a Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) employee, accepted the passport at the FDA Head Office in Accra. She praised the Ghana Post and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their efforts, stating that "we have improved as a country."

In order to alleviate the challenges Ghanaians often face while applying for a passport, she urged the Ghana Post and the ministry's Passport Service to continue the free delivery service, calling it an innovative innovation that deserves praise.

Excited by the new arrangement, Doreen Klutse, who also got her passport at the Ghana Library Authority Head Office in Accra, said that it was both convenient and astonishing that she was not charged for delivery.

Abdul Razak Osumanu, who also received his passport at the Maestro Plaza on the Kotobabi Main Road in Accra, said that the reform was evidence that the new administration was resetting Ghana.

In order to meet the requirements of Ghanaians, he thanked the minister for the prompt reform and asked his office to keep implementing creative policies at the ministry.
