UEW Deepens Commitment to Educational Transformation at 2025 Public Lecture Series

With its 2025 Public Lecture Series, the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has reaffirmed its position as a national thought leader in educational reform and policy making.

The university's commitment to empowering minds, influencing futures, and propelling national development via transformational education was emphasised by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual during his remarks during the occasion.

This year's lecture series focused on the pressing need to rethink education in a world that is changing quickly, with the title "Empowering Minds, Shaping Futures: The Prospects and Challenges of 21st-Century Education, Lessons for Ghana." In order to address current social issues and come up with answers that further Ghana's socioeconomic development, Prof. Mitchual characterised the series as an essential forum for discussion between educators, legislators, and the general public.

"UEW hopes to establish a forum for meaningful discourse through programs like the Public Lecture Series, enabling stakeholders to work together to address problems and develop solutions that advance education," he said.

The Vice-Chancellor also emphasised how education's role is changing in the twenty-first century and that it must foster critical thinking, creativity, and global citizenship in addition to conventional subject delivery. He claims that by fusing academic brilliance with proactive community involvement, UEW is establishing its reputation on these principles.

He said that education today is revolutionary, empowering people and preparing them to manage a world that is becoming more linked and complicated.

According to Prof. Mitchual, UEW is in a unique position to take the lead in discussions about inclusive development, innovation, and reform in higher education. He said that in order to fulfil Ghana's sustainable development objectives, the Public Lecture Series was a strategic instrument for leveraging different viewpoints, promoting intellectual interaction, and inspiring group action.

The gathering of eminent academics, public servants, and members of civil society facilitated a fruitful discussion on Ghana's educational future. Professor Mitchual encouraged everyone to participate fully in the conversation and to see education as a potent force for bringing about a country's revitalisation.

"Let's encourage people to think critically, create fearlessly, and have big dreams. We can create a better future for Ghana and beyond if we work together," he said.

The university's legacy of encouraging research, teamwork, and influential leadership in education is carried on via the 2025 UEW Public Lecture Series. The occasion sets the stage for next scholarly endeavours that aim to forge a progressive course for teacher preparation and the advancement of the country.
