 The Greater Accra Regional Hospital has issued a public notice informing the general public about unclaimed bodies that have remained in its mortuary for over nine months.

Hospital authorities have warned that if the bodies are not retrieved within three weeks of this announcement, they will conduct a mass burial in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and its environmental unit.

This mass burial initiative aims to alleviate overcrowding in the mortuary while upholding public health regulations.

The list of unclaimed bodies includes individuals of various ages, consisting of both men and women, as well as some whose identities remain unknown. Notable names among the deceased are Charles Boateng (50), Emmanuel Adom (54), and Mary Donkor (33).

Other names mentioned include Isaac Andy, Emmanuel Akwetey, and Diana Migolle, along with several individuals recorded as "unknown male" or "unknown female."

The hospital is urging members of the public to assist in identifying and claiming the remains of their relatives.

"Family members of the deceased are advised to contact hospital mortuary officials immediately to arrange for the burial of their relatives," the notice emphasized.

Dr. Ralph Armah, Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, signed the statement, appealing for public cooperation in locating relatives of the deceased.

Authorities anticipate that this action will help relieve pressure on the mortuary while ensuring that the deceased receive a dignified burial. Concerned relatives are encouraged to visit the hospital before the deadline to make the necessary arrangements.
