Lawal is facing charges of unlawful entry and theft involving copper cables valued at GH₵1,035,500.

He has pleaded not guilty to the accusations.

During the proceedings, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agustin Kingsley Oppong stated that the complainants—Samuel Nii Tettey and Davidson Mensah Otinkorang—serve as a safety officer and an electrical engineer, respectively, at the under-construction Bank of Ghana facility.

According to the prosecution, on February 16, 2025, a break-in at the Energy Farm section of the site led to the discovery of missing copper cables measuring 1cx240 and 1cx300 square, worth over GH₵1 million.

CCTV footage showed the accused and two unidentified individuals removing the cables from the Energy Farm area.

The accused was later apprehended by the complainants and turned over to the authorities.

Investigations indicated that the group accessed the site via scaffolding and used sharp tools to sever and take the cables.

Further findings revealed that Lawal sold the stolen cables at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, receiving GH₵2,000 as his share.

However, he failed to help police locate his accomplices or the individual who allegedly purchased the stolen items.
