Following social media complaints of an incident involving children who were reportedly transported to a hotel in Accra New Town, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) acted quickly.
In a statement by the Authority, it noted that the crime has been officially submitted to the Nima Division of the Ghana Police Service for inquiry.
The Greater Accra Regional Director, Ms. Roberta Dawson-Amoah, the Deputy Director of Marketing, Ms. Clara Nketiah, and Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, Deputy CEO, Special Duties, and Mr. Ekow Sampson, Deputy CEO, Operations, were part of the team sent by GTA CEO Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto to visit the facility.
The scandal began when a lady accused Royal Dede Beach Resort of allowing children to have sex on the property in a social media video that went viral.
The action is consistent with the Authority's responsibility to guarantee compliance and safety in the travel and hospitality industry.
The Ghana Tourism Authority's (GTA) deputy chief executive officer, Abeiku Santana, acknowledged in a post on X (Twitter) that the Authority has submitted the Royal Dede Beach Resort, a hotel in Accra New Town, to the police for inquiry.
