A postgraduate student is expelled from UEW due to a huge conspiracy of certificate and admission fraud.

After discovering a comprehensive fraud operation run by one of its own postgraduate students, Mr. Frank Anderson, the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) expelled him right away and began legal action against him.

Mr. Anderson, an MPhil student in the Department of Special Education, was linked to many instances of admission fraud, credential forgery, and academic record fabrication, according to an official disclaimer released by the university's administration.

The statement said, "Mr. Frank Anderson has been removed from his current course of study at UEW." The institution also said that it is actively pursuing legal action against him for "issuing fraudulent admission letters, falsifying university documents, and engaging in extortion."

The investigation by the university revealed that Mr. Anderson was the head of a network that deceived potential students by claiming that he could fix incomplete grade (IC) problems, change academic grades, and help with what he called "Protocol Admissions" in return for payments ranging from GHS 1,000 to GHS 3,000. His illegal activities took place at Suhum, Mangoase, Nsawam, and Winneba, among other places.

The syndicate produced faked WASSCE certificates and phoney PDF copies of student results to assist customers in illegally gaining admission to the institution, even though they were never able to compromise UEW's legitimate grading system, OSIS 2.

All students discovered to have entered via these fraudulent methods have had their admissions cancelled by the institution in a decisive action. Students have also been pulled who paid to have their marks changed.

Currently incarcerated, Mr. Anderson is scheduled to stand trial for identical charges before the Winneba High Court. "He acted independently and without any authorisation from the university," the university said, completely distancing itself from his actions.

"The University of Education, Winneba upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and does not condone fraudulent activities," UEW said, restating its dedication to academic integrity. "UEW will vigorously pursue and implement strong measures against fraudulent conduct," it said.
