Ghanaian musician Edem has emphasized the importance of collaboration in the country’s music industry, stating that no single artiste can single-handedly elevate Ghana to global recognition.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz, Edem stressed that teamwork and mutual support are crucial in today’s highly competitive music landscape. He pointed to Nigeria’s music industry as an example, where multiple artistes like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Ayra Starr have collectively contributed to the country’s international success.
"If one man thinks that he can be the only one to take Ghana to the top, that won’t work. We need to support each other, collaborate, and push everybody forward," Edem stated.
Edem’s Support for Stonebwoy’s Boston Concert
Edem also revealed the reason behind his surprise appearance at Stonebwoy's concert in Boston. He explained that while he was in the U.S. for Grammy weekend, he noticed Stonebwoy’s tour schedule and decided to attend one of the shows since it was just a four-hour drive from his location.
"I was in the U.S. for the Grammy pre-party, where Gambo and I performed. I returned to Ghana in January and was supposed to go back to the U.S. in February. When I saw Stonebwoy's tour dates, I congratulated him and decided to be part of it," he said.
Upon arriving, Edem surprised Stonebwoy at his hotel, and the two had a great conversation before the concert. He emphasized that such acts of support and unity are what the Ghanaian music industry needs to grow globally.
